1989-90 OPC Wax Break

My wife and I attended an antique show this past weekend. Mostly junk if you ask me but I came across a OPC 89-90 full box of hockey cards. I was interested not because I need any but a chance to pull a Sakic or Fleury RC. I thought for the $3 a pack what the heck. My first pull will not be available to be posted because I laughed and gave them back to the fellow to give to a kid. I wandered around a little and went back to get 1 more. The pack was ripe with old players so I thought another 3 bucks blown, til the last card, a short Calgary Flames rookie name Theoren Fleury. Oh yah! A fun way to spend an afternoon and some neat trinkets along the way.

Theo Fleury Signed Cards

I just notice this today, have a look at both cards. Theo has been in the new lately and we just found out his book tour will miss Saskatchewan, jumping right over us to Manitoba. That really sucks but I wish Theo well in this next part of his life. I used to hang around with Teddy and played against Travis; both Theo's younger brothers. These two cards were signed one in person and one from Bossa Production last April in Calgary. No big deal eh? But, 89-90 card were signed April of 2009, 90 Upper Deck, signed in 1991. 18 years later Theo has almost the same signature. That's actually amazing considering today's players; Luke Schenn who scribbles a 'L' with #2 and on official items, full signature.

Theoren Fleury and Doug Gilmour Signed Flames Jersey

I actually knew Theo from years ago, he is from a town near my home town. As a kid, we never bothered asking guys who played on the NHL for autographs, Kelly Buchberger, Theo, Jeff Odgers. Now as a collector the chances are not as easy as they once were. Theo and Doug Gilmour did a signing in Calgary for Bossa Productions on April 4 and 5. I managed to get someone to get a whole bunch of stuff signed, there was a cost but worth it. Theo's rookie card from 89-90 was a neat item. And last not but least of the Flames items; a signed Gilmour Flames puck.
